Welcome to the official USA tour page - GROOVEDOCTORS 2006

LA Confidential: (2)

Friday 10th March
Just down the road a piece is a preserved Aztec kitsch style building called the Aztec Hotel, parts of which have a preservation order on it. Situated on the old Route 66, one half of this unique building has been operating as a roadhouse style bar – the Brass Elephant. If ever a room was custom made for the groovies to appear in it was this place – you didn’t need to move more than 10 paces from any point in the room to hit the bar. The place was rammed, we played a 1 hour set that had the whole room jumping. Brilliant reception, Brilliant gig – can’t remember much more apart from the bar!

Saturday 11th/Sunday 12th
Back at the Buccaneer on Saturday – what happened last night – no one else can remember much either! Another packed in bar gig that came alive as the sun went down over the mountains. Great atmosphere – just a few more beers and then home again. Sunday brought a really relaxed laid back jam session at the Brass Elephant. We played a neat set of more originals and then JB was asked to stay on to play with various other guests. Great trumpet player off to the side of the stage with some scorching solos.

Monday 13th
A full I hour slot to finish the night and the tour off at the Arcadia Blues Club with Reverend Tom. Players from the Edgar Winter band, Billy Preston band and the Pointer sisters band all appeared during the evening. Fabulous reception given to the groovies after their set – so many wanting to hang out with us when they come across the pond to play. We could have sold the accent – “just say that again – isn’t that wonderful “ – a million times over. Maybe we will on the next trip………to be continued………
